Backstreet’s Back Behind Bars

Nick Carter Mugshot

Wednesday night in Key West, Florida police arrested popular artist Nick Carter from the group Backstreet Boys. Police were called to the popular bar, Hog’s Breath Saloon, where Carter and his friend Michael Papayans allegedly got into an altercation at Hog’s Breath Saloon. The altercation began when Carter and Papayans appeared over intoxicated at the bar and staff refused to serve the two. Papayans claims via police body cam video that Carter started the fight as the two were intoxicated by head butting a staff member, causing bouncers to tackle the two to the ground. Papayns describes the altercation with bouncers tackling him… “like they were f–king Navy SEALS or something.” Staff members had both men detained by the time police arrived. After review of video surveillance the Monroe County police arrested both Carter and Papayans and the two ere subsequently charged with misdemeanor battery.
Carter ended up spending the night in jail and was released from the Monroe County Detention Center in Key West, FL. Thursday on a $1,500 bond, according to the center. Many had thought the expected father cleaned up his act in the time since his last arrest. Carter competed on Dancing with the Stars where he placed second on the show. Carter’s past with the law involves a 2005 arrest and charge on a misdemeanor for drunk driving. The singer has had personal experience himself and with family members surrounding substance abuse. Carter lost his sister in 2012 after an overdose. Carter’s younger brother also faced charges after being pulled over in Texas in 2008, where upon search of the vehicle police found marijuana.
Upon his release Thursday, said to reporters, “The truth will come out.” Unfortunately for the singer there is surveillance of the actions from that night and a confession for his friend, Papayans. Carter’s next scheduled court date is for February 8 at 8:30 a.m. at the Key West courthouse. Carter’s band mate, A.J. McLean came to his defense in an interview copping up the situation as a mistake most people make after having one too many drinks.
